Discussion about Big Bud - Connections

I have to say I really admire early Big Bud's work. I've bought 'White Widow' / 'Forever' single and considered it above good so I've decided to buy 'Connections' (I'd probably buy it anyway). I had listened to it several times and I have a hard time with this one. It's a very good release which makes it even harder - because it's 'only' very good. Big Bud's GLR releases are amazing and I often find a moment that they are the ones that suit my mood perfectly. Going back to Connections - everything is here, top production quality, great samples and timing. The tunes are also very catchy, listening experience is easy so you'll find a lot of people that are not much into d'n'b and still like 'Connections'.What it misses is the magical feeling I've found on 'Infinity+Infinity' and 'Late Night Blues'. With tunes like 'Darker Than Blue', 'Soulfood' and 'Persian Blues' Big Bud was able to place me directly inside some nonexisting oriental lands far away, delivering a unique experience that made him one of those 'one of a kind' producers. I just can't find it here, although I've really wanted to.If it would be someone else I'd probably listen to the album often and consider it a really good backround rolling release, but when it comes to Big Bud it's a dissapointment. Please keep in mind that it's very subjective opinion and it can be a good addition to many collections.
