Thomas Alva Edison - Mary Had A Little Lamb download free

An early work by the artist who sadly did not add much to his oeuvre in the wake of this early recording. A cover of a well-known poem, Edison suffers from poor production and a minimalist approach to instrumentation. His vocals in isolation are insufficient to convey Mary's passion for her lamb, nor her anguish at its loss. However, the work may be seen as a postmodernist statement pertaining to media limitations in the conveyance of genuine - or well-simulated - emotion and thus as a critique of the inherent insincerity of mass-produced art. (To underline this thesis it should be noted that Edison limited the recording to a single pressing).
